Cameron Schuster of Kerrville, a rising junior at Schreiner University, became the 2009 state 20-Gauge Skeet Champion at the Texas Skeet Championships in Waco, June 25-28, 2009.

Schreiner freshman Caitlin Barney of Ingram is the number one Junior Women’s trap shooter in the United States with an average score of 86.3 percent, less than 2 percentage points off the score of Beijing Olympic bronze medalist in this event, Corey Cogdell.

The women of Schreiner University’s Shooting Sports Team made a strong showing recently in trap at the USA Shooting Fall Selection Match in Colorado Springs, CO. The Schreiner team included two freshmen, Tori Burch from Mountain Home and Caitlin Barney from Ingram, as well as junior Rachael Heiden from Clinton, MI, and sophomore Kelsey Zauhar from Kerrville.

Members of the Schreiner team winning the team awards were Kent Freeman, Cameron Schuster and Bill Thomas in American and international skeet; in American trap, Kent Freeman, Bill Thomas and Carlos Valdez; and international trap, Cameron Schuster, Carlos Valdez and guest competitor Caitlin Barney of Ingram Tom Moore High School. In individual awards, Cameron Schuster took the top prize for American skeet and Carlos Valdez for international skeet.
