Dear Parent,
Having a child attend college is an exciting event and one you
have planned and hoped for throughout your child's life. But,
that does not mean it is without pain. Some of the pain may be
financial! Much of it is emotional, as you experience the highs
and lows of watching your son or daughter take that first big
step into adulthood and trusting they are ready. It is normal to
feel some anxiety during this time. We hope this handbook will
help ease some of your concerns by providing information and
resources.
We assume you chose Schreiner partly because of its size. At
Schreiner, your child will not be just another face or number.
The faculty and staff come to know the students very well and
are accessible to them. We are also accessible to you, and I
urge you to contact us if you have questions or concerns. On the
other hand, I encourage you to give your student the first
opportunity to find information or work out issues.
During Orientation you will meet many of the faculty,
administrators and other students who will be significant in
your student's life while at Schreiner. We feel strongly about
the "Schreiner Family" and are excited about welcoming you and
your son or daughter as our newest members. Please do not
hesitate to ask questions and share any information you feel may
be helpful to us as we prepare for the fall semester.
Sincerely,
Peg Layton Vice President for
Enrollment/Student Services and Dean of Students
