With emphasis on academics as a number one priority, Schreiner
University also recognizes the importance of a holistic,
well-rounded experience for every student. In accordance with this,
the Department of Student Activities requires that all officers of
student organizations meet an academic requirement of a cumulative
2.25 GPA. Additionally, all members of an RSO must maintain a
cumulative 2.0 GPA or higher to remain active members of the
group—except for first year freshmen they can have a 1.75 GPA.
While the Department of Student
Activities monitors grades, it is the responsibility of the
organization to abide by and enforce this policy. When a student
falls below this requirement, the student organization may put the
person on a form of academic probation or immediately suspend the
student from the organization. If the member does not meet the GPA
requirement after one semester of academic probation, they may no
longer hold membership in that group. Furthermore, student
organizations may choose to enact GPA requirements above this
minimum requirement set forth by the university by including the
rule in their Constitution or Bylaws.
