The Health and Wellness Center provides basic first aid and assessment
of minor illnesses and injuries with medical referral as necessary. Health
guidance information and counseling for personal issues is also available.
A variety of brochures, books, and videos related to stress management,
relaxation, wellness promotion, nutrition, eating disorders, fitness,
and many others are available by request. Over the counter medications
for allergies, cuts and pain relief are available by request.

• Encourages and supports the total wellness approach to health care
by providing the necessary resources to meet those needs. All
services are free and confidential
• Provides guidance for informed responsible self-care through
direct contact with a Healthcare professional, brochures and health

assessment and treatment of students’ health concerns. Appointments

• Administers the Student Accident and Sickness Insurance plan for
Schreiner University. Accident and Sickness Insurance is mandatory
for all residential and international students and recommended for
commuters. Please see the Health Insurance

free to all students registered
at Schreiner. All services provided are confidential. All students
are required to provide a
Health History Information Form, which is kept
on file in the Health and Wellness Center office.

AFTER HOURS CARE
In the event of minor problems, care needs can be
discussed with your residence hall director or assistant. If the problem
requires medical intervention, you can call your personal doctor or the
doctor on call for: Family Practice Associates at 830-896-4711;
Peterson Minor Care Center at 830-258-7090; or, Peterson Regional
Medical Center at 830-896-4517. |
FOR MEDICAL EMERGENCIES: Dial 911
You
may need to dial 9 for an outside line depending on the phone you
are using.
Medical Emergencies include such life threatening conditions
as:
Difficulty breathing
Major injury
Severe bleeding that won't stop
Unconsciousness or drug overdose
Convulsions that will not stop |
