Accident and
Sickness Insurance is mandatory for all
residential, international, athletic, and
nursing students. All residential,
international, athletic, and nursing students
enrolled at Schreiner University are
automatically enrolled in the Student Accident
and Sickness Plan offered by the University
unless proof of comparable insurance coverage
has been provided during the online web waiver
process prior to first day of class each
semester. Providing proof of insurance to
Athletics does not fulfill the University’s
requirement of completing the online web waiver
process.
For Schreiner
students who do not have comparable health
insurance, a Student Accident and Sickness Plan
is available through the University.
For the 2012-2013 academic year, this Plan will
be administered by Academic HealthPlans (AHP)
with ACE as the insurance carrier. The cost for
coverage from 6/15/12 to 6/14/2013, Fall/Spring
8/1/2012 to 6/14/2013 is $864.
This Accident and Sickness Plan is available to
all students carrying three or more hours with
optional coverage for spouse and dependents.
This plan is managed as a preferred provider
organization with all services and referrals
requiring authorization from the Health and
Wellness Center. Please contact Health and
Wellness between the hours of 9am and 5pm for
authorization. When services and or referrals
are required after hours, please contact Health
and Wellness on the next business day.
There is an optional major medical supplemental
which parents/students may purchase for an
additional $140. This will increase major
medical coverage to $100,000 (per accident or
sickness cause) paid at 80% after $100
deductible.

*Although it is highly
recommended for all Schreiner students, the
University’s mandatory Accident and Sickness
insurance requirement does not apply to
commuters. Commuters wishing to enroll in this
plan may call 830-792-7279.
Student Accident and Sickness insurance insures
students can access health care off campus,
consult a specialist, and have coverage for
emergency and/or hospitalization. All students
are encouraged to carry a copy of their
insurance card to avoid delay in healthcare in
an emergency and to provide updated information
by contacting Health and Wellness at
830-792-7279 any time insurance coverage
changes.
