SU Shooting Team Coach
Master Instructor Davis is New Schreiner Shooting Coach
Robert Davis, a certified master skeet instructor from Fredericksburg, has been named coach of Schreiner University’s nationally competitive Shooting Team.
“There are only 15 master instructors in the world certified by the National Skeet Shooting Association,” says Cindy Becker, who will also serve as coach after managing the team’s activities as a volunteer for the past 11 years. “We are very fortunate to have a person with Bob’s skills and dedication lead our team.”
Davis, who has been a shotgun instructor since 1996, says his coaching philosophy is “turning competitive athletes into elite athletes.”
As a former NSSA chief instructor he was in charge of teaching instructors in a five-state region. He is also a certified to instruct by the National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA).
He is an 18-time member of the NSSA All-American Team, and a 24-time member of the Texas Skeet Shooting Association (TSSA) All-State Team. Among other championships, he has won the Grand National Waterfowl Hunt in Easton, MD. In June he won his third consecutive TSSA Senior Veteran HOA Championship.
Davis is a former director of the TSSA, and a life member of the NSSA/NSCA, the National Shooting Center in San Antonio, and the Hill Country Shooting Sports Center in Kerrville, among numerous other affiliations.
