1. GO TO CLASS. Attendance is
non-negotiable element of a successful college career.
2. Success requires that you DEVELOP GOOD
STUDY HABITS. Form study groups with other students
in your class or residence hall. It’s a big help, especially at exam
time.
3. INTERACT WITH YOUR INSTRUCTOR.
Don't be embarrassed to ask about your progress. Instructors want to
help.
4. VISIT YOUR ACADEMIC ADVISOR several times each semester. Discuss
where you want to be after graduation & how to reach your goal.
5. PEER TUTORS ARE FREE at the
Schreiner
Learning Center and
Writing Center. They’ll even come to you! Tutors
are in the freshman residence halls late at night. Start on
day #1!! Get tips and suggestions from students proficient in the
course.
6. OUTSIDE FACTORS sometime affect
your ability to be successful. Find a campus resource to resolve the
issue. Schedule a maximum of only 20 hours a week at your job.
7. CHOOSE A MAJOR & EXPLORE CAREERS.
Career Services is not a resource to ignore. Start now to plan
what you want to do after graduation.
8. JOIN A STUDENT ORGANIZATION & MAKE
FRIENDS. You’ll have some fun and they’ll give you
support when the going gets tough.
9. SEEK A HEALTHY BALANCE of
academics, healthy food, recreation and rest. If you feel good,
study habits improve. If you study smarter, you make better grades.
If you make excellent grades, you feel great!
